Juventus was founded by students of the Massimo D’Azeglio School in Turin. They started playing in pink and black shirts, and then turned to black and white stripes. Juventus won the league for the first time in 1905.

The Agnelli family took control of the club and Eduardo Agnelli became the president of the club and built a new stadium. From 1930 to 1935 Juventus won five significant league titles; the coach at that time was Carlo Carcano.

In 1966 – 1967 the club won the league just once more. They won the scudetto in 1971 – 1972 and in 1972 – 1973 with players Franco Causio, Jose Altafini and Bettega Roberto.

In the 1977 UEFA Cup final Juventus defeated Athletic Club and deserved a first European cup.  Such stars as Michel Platini, Paolo Rossi, and Zbigniew Boniek continued clubs domestic domination and strengthened the position of the club. In 1984 they won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and in1985 European Champion Clubs’ Cup.

In 1991 Juventus beat AFC Ajax on penalties in the final; and became the champions of the UEFA League.

Since then they have lost three finals and in 2006 after Series A match-fixing scandal were relegated to Series B.

After their return to Series A in the 2007-2008 seasons Claudio Ranieri managed Juventus for two seasons. Juventus beat Real Madrid in home and away matches, but lost in the round to Chelsea. Ciro Ferrara was appointed as the coach was for the 2009–10 seasons.

Ciro Ferrara as head coach proved to be however unsuccessful, Juventus was knocked out of UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia, and just lying on the sixth place in the league table at the end of January 2010.
